The day was quite sunny, the day was quite hot
And slaving away, I was not.
When suddenly there came a mighty great shout
And I wondered what could that possibly be all about?
I started to run, the cries got quite frantic
'Till I found her at the clothesline looking at a towel in utter panic.
"Dear sis, what's wrong? What is the matter?"
"A spider!" My sister managed to stutter and stammer.
"It's big and it's black and it looks oh so scary
It's moving so fast, but I think it might be hairy."
I dutifully looked at the offending pink towel
But had there been anything there, it wasn't there now.
I turned to my sister and started to sigh
But turned back to the towel when she gave a small cry.
It definitely was fast, and for sure it was black
As for its big size however, well, it seemed to lack.
The wind caught the towel and it started to flutter
My sister jumped back but stayed the cry she was about to utter.
The spider scuttled up, and it scuttled right down
It moved left and right, then went right around.
My sister cried to me, "The long tongs, go get 'em!
And show to this spider, we're the boss, and not them!"
And so armed with the tongs, I returned once again
Took up my stance, and vowed the spider would be slain.
I raised my arm up, and took careful aim
But when the blow descended the spider proved it wasn't lame.
Instead of being squished, as was intended
The spider was dislodged, which to it was quite splendid.
So while the fluffy pink towel was now spider free
I was able to start tormenting my sister with glee.
